Joseph & Trisha

Open in new windowWe think these guy are two of the most exciting, stylish & enjoyable international swing dance teachers emerging from the UK scene today, Joseph and Trisha have become popular on the international dance scene for their natural authentic style, charisma, musicality and originality in their social dancing as well as their teaching.

With a number of titles under their belt, including the UK Lindy Hop Championships, together they are constantly learning new dance styles which includes: Lindy Hop, Blues, Black Bottom, 20's Charleston, Tap, Authentic Jazz movement, Balboa, Foxtrot and other dances originating from the jazz era, which is evident in their social dancing.

We agree with many others that their exciting and innovative style of teaching is very clear, energetic, inspiring, fun, informative and very friendly, with a knack of making the most complex moves, concepts and techniques, seem oh so simple to understand. You'll agree, whether you're an advanced dancer or beginner, with either a focus on partner connection, rhythm, musicality, style, body movement, awareness or improvisation. Joseph and trish use creative concepts and moves that can be used on the social dance floor.

If that's not enough, Joseph’s mum highly recommends them.

Scott Cupit

Open in new windowWhen Scott last danced Edinburgh, we announced him as the person who has shared our dance with more new people than anyone else in the modern era. We have no way of knowing if this is true but we do know that Scott & Claudia – of Swing Patrol - have built an amazing collective, currently consisting of 60 teachers, 120 troupe members and about 1400 social dancers and growing everyday.

You could call it a family, a business or an amazing community. Whatever you call it, Swing Patrol has become something of a unique group within the wider Lindy Hop community . People from as far away as Japan have come to Swing Patrol to study the culture and the business model.

Formerly from Melbourne, Australia and now based in London, Scott regularly teaches around Europe. His classes are known for the strong technique and clear tuition that underpin them but perhaps most for the infectious passion and fun that Scott brings to each one.

Open in new windowScott, Ben & Helen have been friends for many years and Scott & Helen are really buzzed about teaming up together for this weekend.

Keith McGee (Manchester) came to the dance floor from the band stand: a professional jazz and big band pianist, he was bitten by the Lindy bug in 1998 and hasn't stopped dancing yet.

He began teaching Lindy Hop in his home town of Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2002 and since then has taught workshops and classes across the Mid-West and throughout much of Canada (including Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton).

Since moving to the U.K. in 2003, Keith has taught lindy hop, balboa and blues in London, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham and Sheffield. He travels back to North America to teach workshops in the U.S. and Canada several times a year.

Ben & Helen

Open in new windowBen and Helen started dancing in 2000 in Melbourne, Australia and saw each other across a crowded dance floor. Sounds cheesy, and it is, but it was the beginning of a fabulous partnership. Over the years they’ve explored their passion for swing dance in many different ways and we have danced their way to Edinburgh via Japan and Sweden. Given Ben’s years of Kung Fu training and Helen’s background in gymnastics, it’s no wonder these guys specialize in dips, tricks and aerials and have taught many to fly at major UK dance camps over the years.

Open in new windowNow based in Edinburgh and founders of Zoot Swing in 2005, they teach weekly swing, blues and solo Charleston classes are sought after regularily to teach around the UK and think up all sorts of exciting dance events (like this one ).

They are very proud to bring you Scotland Swing Storm and endeavour to bring people together through the love of swing dancing, because you never know who you might see across that dance floor! Open in new window
